There are times in our lives when we have to walk a path by ourselves. There are no partners, no friends, no family and no help. In those instances, we begin to feel the weight of truly being alone. Feeling alone in the 21st century is very unsettling. Without the support and guidance we get from our social circles on a daily basis, we feel disconnected, since these elements in our lives are crucial to our motivation.
Now faced with uncharted waters and no Google Maps or Waze at our disposal, we feel stuck. Needless to say, the journey at hand is not getting any easier the longer we feel sorry for ourselves. It’s time we remind ourselves of some basic things we may have forgotten about being our number one supporter.
Firstly, why did we choose to embark on this journey in the first place? What is our goal? If we think about what’s waiting for us at the end of the long road and keep focused on that, we can find the courage and strength to keep moving forward.
Secondly, think about how much will we grow as an individual at the end of this journey. Imagine the experience we will gain from taking on this challenge all by ourselves. We will not learn bits and pieces, but everything there is to learn about our task.
And, thirdly, we can always be proud of ourselves at the end.
Self-motivation is only possible if we want it. It’s good to remember that having a positive attitude is like flying over mountains. If we can believe in our success then we will never see failure.
